EligibilityFind Out More
Students entering their first year of high school through those entering their first year of college are accepted to the program. However, we will accept alumni up to age 19 as long as they are eligible to participate in one of the advanced tracks.
First-year* students will be members of the House of Representatives in the Mock Legislature Track, unless they have fully participated in an Onsite program. In this case, they may participate as Senators.
Second-year* students will be Senators in the Mock Legislature Track, UNLESS they are entering their Junior or Senior year in high school. In that case, they are eligible and may participate in the Business, Judicial, Media or Campaign tracks.
Third-year* or higher students have the option of participating in any track, although the Advanced Tracks are expected to fill quickly, as a limited number of spaces are available in each track.
*Note: First-year students are those attending SSI’s Summer Program for the first time. Second-year students are attending the Summer Program for the second time, and so on. It does not pertain to what high school year you’re entering, or whether you attended the Onsite Program. Still have questions? Try our new Eligibility Calculator by clicking HERE

Please note that SSI does not assign dorm rooms. Students choose their rooms on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Design a brochure to distribute to people telling them what you are asking money for and why you want to be a part of it. Then even if they do not have time to talk with you or say “no” at first, it gives them something to carry with them and keep on the kitchen table to possibly reconsider.
Send out a letter to 35 people asking each for a minimal contribution of $10.
Approach your church and area community service clubs (VFW, Lions Club, Rotary Club, Political Clubs, Chamber of Commerce) and ask if they will sponsor you for $50.
Approach area businesses and ask that they sponsor you.
Ask local or state elected officials to sponsor a portion of your fee.
Don’t forget about family, friends, and neighbors. The people close to you will be happy to contribute $10 to assist you in fulfilling your goal.
Find a donor who will match contributions. Some will agree to a 2 to 1 match; others will commit to less, but it is a way to motivate people to contribute knowing they are not responsible for the entire amount.
Have a garage sale.
Have a bake sale at your church or school.
Have a car wash.
Do chores, such as mowing or raking lawns, or shoveling driveways and sidewalks for the elderly in your neighborhood.
Ask 5-10 people to save their spare change for you for the entire month.
Invite people to a birthday party and in lieu of gifts, ask that they contribute to your fundraising effort.
Have an auction of items donated by friends, family, or businesses at your church, school or community organizations.
Ask a Christian veteran. Explain that you appreciate his service and sacrifice to protect freedom. Tell him you want to accept the torch and be prepared to pass it on to your children. Seeing your interest and appreciation of his contribution to the freedom you enjoy is moving and may inspire him to sponsor you.
Be sure to keep a detailed list of your contributors, their addresses, emails and phone numbers, and the amount they contribute.
Mail thank you notes to your donors both when the contribute and again after your SSI experience to tell them how much you enjoyed what they made possible.
If your donors want to claim their donation on their taxes, they must make the check out to SSI, and we must receive the original check – please do not collect checks then cut one large one – instead, forward the original checks (made out to SSI) to SSI. This only works if the donors are not your parents or guardians. Feel free to use this Fundraising Record to help you keep track.
To qualify for the early registration tuition of $379, all fees must be paid in full by March 15.
SSI offers a few options that will help students and their families pay the registration fee.
All potential financial aid recipients must fill out the Financial Aid Application that is found at the bottom of the Registration Page.
Whether any financial aid is awarded, and the amount awarded to each person, is entirely dependent upon the generosity of our donors. First-time students will receive preference, on a first-come, first-served basis. If we are not able to grant you financial aid, and consequently you are not able to attend, your deposit & subsequent payments to date will be refunded. Due to the time required to raise the funds necessary to meet all the requests, you will be contacted no later than June 15 as to whether or not you have been awarded Financial Aid.
FIRST TIME APPLICANTS: The Financial Aid Application and Registration Form must be filled out completely with at least a $50 deposit to reserve your place. An additional $25 is also required to be paid prior to attendance. Your minimum payment will be $75, plus any additional amount you are able to pay.
RETURNING STUDENTS: If you have received financial aid in a previous year, the Financial Aid Application and Registration Form must be filled out completely with at least a $50 deposit to reserve your place. An additional $100 will be due prior to attendance. Your minimum payment will be $150, plus any additional amount you are able to pay.
Alternatives to Financial Aid: Students registering and paying in full by March 15th receive a $20 discount. Students registering with a group of 10 or more students and paying in full BEFORE March 15th receive a $30 discount. (BEST DEAL!!) Students registering with a group of 10 or more students and paying in full AFTER March 15th receive a $10 discount.
Fundraising Ideas to Reduce or Eliminate the Need for Financial Aid: Many students raise their own money to attend SSI. They do pop can drives, garage sales, rake or mow lawns, shovel snow, babysit, etc. Some even ask for support from individuals and their church, much like raising funds for a missions trip. If you have any questions or concerns, please call our office toll free at (877) 464-6388 or e-mail email@example.com.

Eligibility: 10 or more students must register to be considered a group. All groups must be pre-established and are subject to SSI’s prior approval.
