James Muffett
Founder and President
James has been active in Michigan’s public arena for over 25 years. Married to Margot since 1979, a father of 5, former pastor, nationally recognized spokesperson for traditional family values in Michigan, statewide organizational leader, and passionate citizen – he brings an experienced view and vibrant vision to Michigan’s cultural landscape. His perspective on how the Bible, history of our nation, current times, and future tie together inspires everyone, leading them into effective cultural engagement – whether running for office, educating their church or simply enhancing their appreciation of our religious freedom. His motivational speaking inspires and trains leaders for this and the next generation. James’ bucket list includes a visit to an SSI alum in the oval office.

Tim Van Loh
Chief Operations Officer
Tim joined the SSi team with a pastoral, teaching, and administrative background. He has been active in politics since high school and has always enjoyed public speaking as well. As a father of two SSi alumni, he fully appreciates the benefits of what SSi can do for students and families today. He is passionate about the Bible having memorized I Peter, Hebrews, Ephesians, and over half of Proverbs. Two interesting things about Tim is that he has lived in Japan for nine years and currently lives in a three generational household!

Brian comes to us with a Worship Arts degree from Spring Arbor University and a concentration in broadcasting. He has worked as a worship & media director, graphic designer, and tech support agent since his graduation in 2008. Brian and his wife, Amanda, reside in Lansing. A unique fact about Brian is that he is actually an identical twin.

Aimee Chauvin
Director of Programs
Aimee attended SSI twice as a student (in 2010 and 2011) and went on to be an ADC for the next four years, filling the role of Head ADC in 2015 before finally coming to work for SSI. She is the third born of four girls. Her passion lies with the acquisition of knowledge, and she loves learning new things. Since 2011 she has worked with homeschool groups as a tutor for English, math, speech, debate, and American Sign Language. Being on a soccer team since she was 11, Aimee continues to play when she can and coaches the LA Dragons junior high boy’s and girl’s teams. Aimee is a true philomath, logophile, linguaphile, and biophile and wants to encourage all these loves by learning French and then traveling to France.

Julie Howard
Julie has been part of the SSI team for 15 years. She is blessed with a wonderful husband, Kevin, of 17 years, and 2 children Evan and Kaitlyn. Julie enjoys bike riding and walks. She often says the Lord is using her in spite of herself – as his child, Mother, a Worker and Friend. Her bucket list includes a visit to the Grand Canyon.

Amanda Pattillo-Lunt

The History of SSI

SSI was established by the Foundation for Traditional Values (FTV) in the mid-1990s after receiving many requests from parents, teachers and pastors who attended “The Greatest Story Never Told” seminars. From small beginnings with 14 students, SSI has grown to include three separate week-long summer experiences featuring eight leadership tracks and serving more than 300 students each year, a traveling two-day Onsite Program for Christian, public and home-school students, and an effective one-year practicum for SSI alumni called the Ambassador League.
The explosive growth and success of SSI, which has also been endorsed by many state and national leaders, confirmed the importance and need for this unique approach to passing the torch of America’s Judeo-Christian heritage to young people. SSI has grown to be Michigan’s Premier Biblical Worldview & Leadership Training Program for high school students.
