Staff changes and God’s provision

by | Feb 5, 2018 | From the SSI Staff

After three and a half years as a highly valued member of our leadership team, Tim Van Loh will be leaving to take a pastoral position at South Church in Lansing. Tim has not only provided dynamic leadership but has also been a great advocate and friend. He will be sorely missed and we wish him all the best in this next season of fruitful ministry.

As we have prayed about our way forward, we’ve decided on an interim plan through August. Because of the timely generosity of a major donor, we’ve hired SSI alumna Vika Nuñez as a Programs Assistant allowing the rest of the SSI staff to assume the bulk of Tim’s responsibilities. Please pray for grace during this time! We are excited to see how God will provide all that we need during this transition as we strive to deliver of our programs with excellence!

Tim Van Loh’s resignation letter:

Tim Van Loh

Tim Van Loh

Three-and-a-half years ago I began a new journey in my life that was in many ways a dream come true. Since I was in high school, I have had a love for politics and since college, a love for Christ. When I attended SSI for the first time as a chaperone in the summer of 2014, I was blown away by what I saw: teenagers being inspired to find their identity in Christ and serve as His ambassador while taking their responsibility as citizens seriously!

At the end of that week, I knew SSI was an organization that I would love to be a part of. Thank you for bringing me on staff and giving me the opportunity to play a small role in the history of SSI. I will continue to promote SSI and participate in its ministries as I am able.

But now it is time for me to transition to a new ministry at South Church. As Pastor of Outreach and Discipleship, I will be able to pursue, on a full-time basis, my passion for leading people to find their identity in Christ and follow wherever He leads. In many ways, SSI has had a role in helping me hone my passion for this and thus I will always be grateful for my time here.

Therefore, I hereby tender my resignation as Chief Operations Officer at SSI effective March 2, 2018. I am leaving with a mixture of happy-sadness. Happiness for the good memories I made, the lives that were inspired for Christ, along with the prospect for my new ministry going forward. Sadness for the friends I leave behind who are officially my co-workers but are so much more – brothers and sisters in Christ and partners in His ministry. In truth, we are Christ’s ambassadors.

God Bless,

Tim Van Loh
