LEAD News Student Portfolio

LEAD News Student Portfolio

  • Before you begin...

  • The Media Track is the public's view into LEAD. The content you produce will be made available online and/or used in promotional materials for LEAD. We require a great deal of hard work, dedication, commitment to deadlines, and a certain level of skill. Media is one of the most sought-after tracks, often filling up and maintaining a waiting list. For these reasons, all Media Track students are required to complete this form to complete their registration in the track.

    Things you should know:

    - As a Media Track student, you will be held to a high standard.

    - You will be expected to function under tight deadlines and will be assigned specific daily tasks which often require research.

    - The Media Track is a joint Print and Broadcast experience. You will be required to write articles for the newspaper and assist with the news broadcasts. Writing skills are key.

    - Self-discipline, initiative, and enthusiasm are vital for Media Track students.
  • If so, were you in print or broadcast? Please note that beginning in 2018, all Media Track members are participants in both print and broadcast.
  • You can use Microsoft Word or an online word-count tool to simplify the counting.
  • Submit a recent headshot (similar to what you would have for a photo ID) that will be used on your media press pass at camp.
    Max. file size: 128 MB.
  • In 275-350 words, tell why you want to be in Media, what you hope to gain from the experience, and what skills you can contribute to the media team.

What do you bring to the table, and what are you hoping to get out of your Media Track experience?
  • You are welcome to bring your own laptop to work off of during the week instead of one of the provided camp computers. Laptops must be kept in the Media Room and may not be used for personal browsing, etc.
